DRITEWYSE

Companionship & Befriending

Because everyone deserves friendship, conversation and a sense of belonging.

More Than Company — Meaningful Human Connection

At Dritewyse Care and Support Ltd, we understand that feeling connected to others is an important part of living a happy, healthy and fulfilling life.

Loneliness and social isolation can affect people of all ages, particularly older adults, individuals living alone, people with disabilities and those whose circumstances make social interaction more difficult.

Our companionship and befriending service provides friendly, reliable and meaningful social support to help individuals feel valued, included and connected.

Whether it is sharing a cup of tea, enjoying a conversation, going for a walk or taking part in a favourite hobby, we believe that even the simplest moments of companionship can make a meaningful difference.

What Our Companionship Service Includes

Friendly Visits and Conversation

Our companions spend quality time with individuals, offering conversation, a listening ear and friendly company in the comfort of their own homes.

Shared Hobbies and Interests

We support people to enjoy activities such as reading, puzzles, board games, gardening, music, crafts and other hobbies that bring them pleasure.

Accompanied Walks and Outings

We can accompany individuals on walks, visits to cafés, shopping trips, local outings and social activities.

Social Connection

We encourage individuals to maintain contact with family members, friends, community groups and social networks.

Everyday Companionship

Our companions can provide friendly company during mealtimes, shared activities and other parts of the day when someone would appreciate additional social interaction.

Support With Technology

Where appropriate, we can help individuals use phones, video calls and everyday technology to stay connected with loved ones.

Gentle Encouragement and Confidence Building

We support individuals who may feel anxious, isolated or reluctant to participate in social activities, helping them gradually build confidence at their own pace.

Flexible Visits

Companionship visits can be arranged around individual preferences, whether for regular weekly company, planned activities or occasional additional support.

Who Is This Service For?

Our companionship and befriending service may be suitable for:

  • Older adults living alone.
  • People experiencing loneliness or social isolation.
  • Individuals who have lost a partner or close companion.
  • Adults with disabilities who would benefit from social interaction.
  • People who spend long periods at home.
  • Individuals recovering from illness who would appreciate company.
  • Families seeking regular social support for a loved one.

Companionship That Feels Personal

We understand that companionship is not simply about having someone present.

It is about being listened to, sharing interests, feeling understood and developing a positive, respectful relationship.

We aim to match support arrangements to each person’s personality, interests, communication needs and preferences.

Some people enjoy lively conversations and outings, while others prefer quieter activities or simply having someone nearby.

We respect those differences.

Supporting Families With Peace of Mind

Families cannot always be present as often as they would like because of work, distance or other responsibilities.

Our companionship service can provide additional social contact and reassurance while helping individuals maintain their daily routines and independence.

With consent, we can keep families informed about relevant wellbeing concerns.

Is Companionship the Same as Personal Care?

Not necessarily.

Companionship and befriending can be provided as a standalone non-personal-care service for people who primarily need social interaction and practical companionship.

Where an individual also requires personal care, we can discuss arranging appropriate support through our CQC-regulated domiciliary care service.

Let's Make Every Day More Meaningful
