Every Child Deserves the Opportunity to Thrive

At Dritewyse Care and Support Ltd, we believe every child and young person deserves support that recognises their individuality, celebrates their strengths and helps them participate meaningfully in everyday life.

Our children’s community support service is designed for children and young people who need additional assistance because of disability, developmental differences, health needs or difficulties accessing everyday activities.

We work alongside families and professionals to provide personalised, respectful and consistent support within the child’s own home and local community.

Our aim is to promote wellbeing, independence, confidence and positive experiences while recognising the importance of family relationships and familiar routines.

What Our Children's Community Support Includes

Personal Care and Daily Living

Where required, we assist with age-appropriate personal care, hygiene, dressing, toileting and other everyday routines in a way that respects the child’s dignity, privacy and developing independence.

Community Access and Social Activities

We support children and young people to access parks, leisure facilities, community groups, recreational activities and other age-appropriate experiences.

Support for Autism and Learning Disabilities

Our approach considers individual communication styles, sensory preferences, routines, strengths and support needs.

We aim to provide predictable, respectful support that helps children feel understood and included.

Emotional and Behavioural Support

We use person-centred, proactive approaches to understand distress, recognise triggers, promote emotional regulation and support positive experiences.

Where behaviours of concern are present, support is guided by individual assessments, appropriate behaviour support plans and staff competencies.

Developing Life Skills

We encourage children and young people to develop age-appropriate skills, confidence and independence through everyday activities and structured opportunities.

Support With Appointments and Activities

Our staff can accompany children and young people to agreed appointments, social activities and community opportunities, with appropriate parental consent and safety arrangements.

Respite and Sitting Support

We can provide planned home-based or community-based support to give parents and family carers time to attend to other responsibilities or take a break.

Building Social Confidence

We support children and young people to develop friendships, practise communication skills and participate in activities that reflect their interests.

Who We Support

Our children’s community support service may be suitable for children and young people with:

  • Autism.
  • Learning disabilities.
  • ADHD.
  • Physical disabilities.
  • Sensory or communication difficulties.
  • Mental health and emotional wellbeing needs.
  • Difficulties with daily living activities.
  • Behaviours of concern.
  • Additional support needs affecting community participation.

Each enquiry is considered individually to determine whether the child’s needs can be safely and appropriately met.

Working in Partnership With Parents and Carers

Parents and carers know their children best.

We value their knowledge, experiences and involvement in planning support.

We take time to understand the child’s routines, likes and dislikes, communication methods, sensory needs, interests and personal goals.

We also recognise the importance of listening directly to children and young people and involving them in decisions in ways appropriate to their age and understanding.

Safeguarding and Safe Support

The safety and wellbeing of children and young people are central to our service.

Our arrangements include safeguarding procedures, safer recruitment, staff training, individual risk assessments, appropriate supervision and clear reporting and escalation processes.

Support plans consider the child’s communication needs, environmental risks, behaviour support requirements and the level of staffing necessary to provide safe support.

Where appropriate, we work alongside social workers, healthcare professionals, education teams and other involved professionals.

CQC-Regulated Home and Community Care

Dritewyse Care and Support Ltd provides domiciliary and community-based support, including regulated Personal Care where applicable.

We do not operate children’s residential homes or Ofsted-regulated supported accommodation.

Our children’s services focus on supporting children and young people within their own homes, family environments and communities.

How to Access Our Service

We welcome enquiries from parents, carers, social workers, children’s commissioning teams, brokerage services and other professionals.

Our process begins with an initial discussion, followed by an individual assessment and development of an appropriate support plan.

Support is arranged according to the child’s assessed needs, family preferences, safeguarding considerations and staffing requirements.
